Every parent wants to provide their children with the best of everything. In the first months, they pay special attention to the safety of the entire environment, as the baby adapts to the life in a world full of challenges. The infant’s senses slowly get used to the surroundings and it is parents’ job to make sure that all of the stimuli to which the newborn is exposed, are not too intense for it. It also concerns baby’s skin which is the main safety barrier and can be easily harmed when exposed to wrong fabrics.
Made of organic cotton
The key to the safety of the products is the origins of the fabrics, from which they are made. Almost the whole NEWBORN line and part of the BABY line in the COOL CLUB collection are made of organic cotton. Every batch of cotton used in the production of these clothes has certificates authenticating its production at ecological farms. Because of that, parents buying clothes with the ORGANIC COTTON sign can be sure, that their baby’s skin is in contact only with safe fabrics, produced and acquired in a socially and environmentally responsible way.
Free from harmful substances
The production process is as important as the origins of the fabrics. SMYK makes sure that the clothes are free from any harmful substances. The clothes undergo a series of test to disqualify the presence of harmful substances. Inner procedures, made with the highest diligence, require every supplier and every manufacturer to keep the product’s conformity to the European Union’s Regulation REACH, which is confirmed with an appropriate sign. These products are free from SVHC substances.
The major part of the NEWBORN collection is made of fabrics that have an OEKO-TEX Standard 100 class 1 certificate. It means that the fabric is tested for the presence of 100 chemical substances and is free from them, therefore it is appropriate for newborns and babies.
The safety of the clothes for the little ones consists not only of ecological origin and safe manufacturing, but also appropriate styles, especially safe tailor accessories. If clothes have any bindings – ribbons or strings – parents can be sure that their longitude is proper in accordance to the regulations and they are safe for the baby. All the clasps and small elements – snaps, buttons, zippers and applications – are tested to ensure that they are attached properly, so that it is impossible to detach them from the clothing and the baby cannot swallow them.
All metal elements in the clothes for the youngest must conform to the safety standards. We particularly pay attention to the presence of nickel, which is one of the most popular allergen in reaction to contact. Snaps, zippers and any other metal elements undergo special tests and are free from nickel.
The production process of clothes requires many tools. To avoid leaving even the smallest needle in the clothing, every factory has a metal detector and checks all final products.
Every one of the manufacturers with whom SMYK chooses to cooperate, commits to obeying by the rules described above and many other safety regulations. They confirm it by signing a special document – CERTIFICATE OF CONFORMITY – for every one of produced models. Because of that, SMYK can offer parents and their kids completely safe products.
It is extremely important for SMYK that the manufacturing of the COOL CLUB collection is socially responsible and is carried out with the respect of the rights and dignity of employees. We do not accept any unethical actions from our suppliers and manufacturers. By signing the CODE OF CONDUCT document they particularly commit to: not employing children, not using coercion, not discriminating, mobbing or any other kind of exerting influence on employees by force, respecting dignity and workers’ rights, and provide safe and sanitary working environment. SMYK also expects responsible action regarding protection of the environment and all regulations and norms associated with it.
